The true meaning of Christmas.

I am grateful for all the blessings I've received this year. After everything that has happened, the one thing I am most grateful for is my family :) It's a Merry blessed Christmas indeed :)

This is the ultimate message :)
I'm the least patriotic person in the world, but this is simple, and yet so
powerful.

seven percent

My dad forwarded me this email today :D Something to ponder upon.

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of
The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument.Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God.. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".

26. Always choose life.

27. Forgive everyone everything.

28. What other people think of you is none of your business.

29. Time heals almost everything.. Give time, time.

30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

32. Believe in miracles.

33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

36. Your children get only one childhood.

37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

41. The best is yet to come.

42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

43. Yield.

44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

45. It's estimated 93% won't forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title '7%'. I'm in the 7%. Remember that I will always share my spoon with you! Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

weekend trippin'

for the past three weekends i've been discovering new places and doing new things. every week has been a new experience and i've really been enjoying them so far. it started 3 weeks ago with an exhibition opening at art season in eunos. it was the opening party of :phunk studio's 'a new world' exhibition, and our class was invited since our lecturer is one fourth of the exhibiting studio. next weekend included a free outdoor movie screening at the national museum, just a few steps away from campus. it was an 8 p.m. screening of 'an american in paris' which of course got me excited about my upcoming UK trip, which i still can't believe is happening in exactly 9 days! this past weekend was a night out at clarke quay and then beach bumming the day after that! phew!... pretty tired, but i had fun! they say it only takes so long til you get bored here at SG but i beg to differ. i guess it depends on what you make of it, and the company you keep :)

my clarky :)

My nephew, Clark! He loves lightning mcqueen. Can you tell?

???

I need to be doing research for my essay topic right now. Due to much confusion and lack of inspiration, i've retorted to doing this instead, in hopes that along the way I shall be enlightened. Starting my BA degree course has led to a lot of questioning and reflecting upon why I even chose to pursue it. Of course there was the unavoidable awareness of my insecurities; am i good enough to even be here? will i ever be good enough? But i guess i just need to do my best, and treat this as a challenge. No one said it was going to be easy anyways. If you want something, you need to earn it right? Honestly, as of right now, my main concern is just to pass and graduate by next year. That's if I ever figure out how I'm supposed to do that in the first place. ;)

Marhaba

A total of 2 months spent in Amman, Jordan. I never thought in my life that I would ever get to see and experience the middle eastern side of the world. Life changing and inspiring, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to broaden my mind and perspectives through travel. Despite the obvious differences between our cultures, I found that Jordanians very much have a lot of similarities with asians in terms of family values. They are very warm and hospitable people, much like the filipinos, and share the same religion as the muslim nation of Indonesia. It is bordered by Saudi, Iraq, Iran and Egypt, and is considered to be a fairly liberal arab nation.

A Beautiful Mess

You've got the best of both worlds
You're the kind of girl who can
take down a man and lift him back up again

You are strong but you're needy
Humble but you're greedy
And based on your body language and
shouts of cursive I've been reading

Your style is quite selective
Though your mind is rather reckless
Well I guess it just suggests
That this is just what happiness is

And what a beautiful mess this is
It's like we're picking up trash in dresses

Well it kind of hurts
when the kind of words you write
Kind of turn themselves into knives

And don't mind my nerve
You can call it fiction
Cause I like being submerged
In your contradictions, dear

Cause here we are, here we are

This song is one of my favorites from We sing, We dance, We steal things. But then again, I loved all the songs from that album. Jason Mraz writes beautiful lyrics and beautiful music, and he really has inspired me this past year. His songs speak volumes of life and positivity and makes you realize that we really have just one life to live, so live out loud, to the full, with no regrets. Appreciate everything you have, the good and the bad, coz ultimately one doesn't exist without the other and you just have to deal with things one by one, and things will eventually fall into place. Focus on the brighter side of every situation, coz things can always be worse.

Surreal

2009 is all about change.
in approximately one week, i'll be embarking on a life changing experience. see new places and live away from my family. thing's i've only ever dreamt of, but seem to be happening to me. somehow i feel like i don't deserve all these blessings, but determined to prove that i do. i can't begin to explain how thankful i am for being given this opportunity, but lately i've been facing a great ordeal of challenges concerning my visa and the indonesian immigration system. things are way beyond my control, and at this point i just wish that things could be resolved. i did not break the law or anything, so i'm hoping that i'll get to find a way out of this somehow. i'm thinking this is just the beginning of the many hurdles i will face in this new journey. everything comes with a price right? wish me luck:)
